Farpoint Recordings are pleased to announce a new CD release by Freya Birren, member of the
renowned sound art collective Grúpat. The CD will be launched at the Cut & Splice Festival,
ICA, London.
Libris Solar features three new audio tracks plus the short film The Faerie Queene and
a series of images from Freya's notebook. Presented as a folded A5 size card printed
on heavy uncoated paper stock, the cover artwork contains images by Freya Birren.
The CD is published in a limited edition of 500 copies.
Freya lives in County Mayo, Ireland, she’s a marine biologist, originally Scandinavian.
Her music is for voice, guitar, auto harp, trumpet and violin.
The Grúpat collective's innovative and experimental spread of approaches to sound, have included
sound installations by O’Brien Industries, Bulletin M and The Parks Service; silent musical film
and self-built instruments by Turf Boon; graphic scores by Flor Hartigan and Ukeoirn O’Connor;
sonic reliquaries by outsider artist Violetta Mahon and the sonic flaneur costumes of
drag artist The Dowager Marchylove.
